"The event highlights the skills of installation teams and shops from all over the Asian continent" stated Moe Sabourin, Director of Operations for IASCA Worldwide "There were eight teams total working on identical vehicles, installing identical equipment. The event showcased the abilities of all Asian nations and was conducted at one of the biggest automotive aftermarket shows in Asia. The competition was very well supported by many corporate sponsors and demonstrates IASCA's positive impact in Asia."

The 48H Installation competition was supported by Guangzhou Motor Company who supplied eight of their high end SUVs; Philips (head units), Sound Magus (amplifiers), Pro Audio (speakers) and Kicker (subwoofer and enclosure) supplied the equipment to be installed and Samsung supplied the venue, technical and logistical support. The competition was held in conjunction with the Asian Automotive Aftermarket Association's show in the city of Zhengzhou, China.

Additionally, meetings were held between IASCA Worldwide, IASCA China and the event sponsors to discuss the state of the industry in Asia. The meetings addressed specific areas of opportunity in the Asian mobile electronics market. IASCA Worldwide also conducted meetings with some of their Asian affiliates (Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand) to send the message forward.

"The meetings with industry members and our affiliates were very productive"Sabourin continued to say "Many of the ideas and suggestions brought a sense of unity to the Asian nations who now recognize that IASCA is working hard for their benefit and that working together is the ideal way to succeed. Each country has its strengths and now, beginning the trend of working together as one, they can draw from these strengths to increase their ability in reaching more consumers and creating a higher standard for installers and manufacturers."

International Judges

The competition teams from IASCA Singapore and IASCA Japan took home the top honors in the 48H Challenge, followed closely by the IASCA China and IASCA Taiwan teams. Each country had two teams at the event, each building their own system. Judging of the competition was performed by IASCA UK Director John Robinson (Sound) and IASCA Worldwide Director of Operations Moe Sabourin (Installation); John Robinson has more than 20 years experience in sound quality and was the first IASCA European competitor to bring his competition vehicle over from Ireland to compete at an IASCA Finals in the USA. Moe has been in the mobile electronics industry since 1978, installing and selling; in 1998, he opened his own retail sales and installation shop and in 2009, joined the ranks of IASCA as Director of Worldwide Operations.
