What was the inspiration?
Always loved Beetles , found this one on Facebook and made the right deal to bring it home . Iโ€™ve built all kinds of things for everyone else and it was just the right time for me todo something for me ! I wanted to build a non cookie cut dub that had the same look as every other 100 cars with empi or steelie wheels . I built it for me and never could have imagined that people would love it as much as me or that I would ever get the chance to be on the cover of Gauge ! I just love seeing kids smiles and reactions to the car and answering any and all questions about especially The OG Atari controller (works the air) . The best thing is all the kids I have let get in and the smiles on their faces . By far the best part of it all is my Grandson Branson being in the Garage with me and working on his bug !!

“Rusty Nutz”

1978 Volkswagen Beetle

Owned by: Jeremy Marsh

Photos by: Dan Davis

Meet Rusty Nutz, a Volkswagen Beetle that defies convention and embraces individuality. Owned and customized by Jeremy Marsh of So Sik Kustomz, this 1978 Mexican Sedan Beetle isn’t your average ride. From its unique name to its quirky modifications, Rusty Nutz is a testament to creativity, passion, and the joy of automotive customization. Let’s take a closer look at the story behind Rusty Nutz and the vision that brought it to life.

Rusty Nutz isn’t just a name; it’s a reflection of the car’s character and the humor of its owner. Every nut and bolt on this Beetle may be rusty, but it’s that imperfection that adds to its charm. Jeremy found the irony amusing and decided to embrace it, giving his ride a name that captures its essence and sets it apart from the rest.

Jeremy’s love for Beetles led him to acquire Rusty Nutz, a blank canvas waiting to be transformed. Over three years of meticulous work, Jeremy infused his personality and vision into every aspect of the build. From custom chassis modifications to unique bodywork and paint, Rusty Nutz emerged as a one-of-a-kind creation that turns heads and sparks conversations wherever it goes.

Jeremy’s inspiration for Rusty Nutz stemmed from his desire to build a Beetle that stood out from the crowd. Rejecting the cookie-cutter trends of traditional Beetle customization, Jeremy aimed to create a non-conformist dub with its own distinctive style. Future plans for Rusty Nutz include motor upgrades, a flat pan for a lower profile, and an even bigger audio build to enhance the driving experience.

Jeremy extends his gratitude to those who have supported him throughout Rusty Nutz’s journey, including his partner Olivya, his family, friends, and the automotive community. Their encouragement and assistance have been invaluable in bringing Jeremy’s vision to fruition, and their shared love for the automotive hobby continues to fuel his passion.

Before Rusty Nutz, Jeremy’s automotive journey included a variety of rides, each leaving its mark on his passion for customization. With 30 years of experience, Jeremy’s expertise shines through in every aspect of Rusty Nutz’s build, from the engine modifications to the chassis enhancements and interior detailing.

In conclusion, Rusty Nutz isn’t just a car; it’s a representation of Jeremy Marsh’s creativity, humor, and dedication to his craft. With its distinctive name, unique modifications, and unmistakable character, Rusty Nutz stands as a testament to the joy of automotive customization and the boundless possibilities of self-expression on four wheels. As Jeremy continues to refine and enhance Rusty Nutz, it remains a shining example of individuality and passion in the automotive world.
