The Sparks Show 2023 celebrated its 10th annual open car, truck, and bike show at the Sevier County Fairgrounds, marking a decade of automotive enthusiasm and community spirit. Sponsored by esteemed businesses such as Jr Griffey Body Shop, Airlift Performance, and HammerD Weekend Wear, the event promised great food and great times, and it delivered in spades.
This year’s Sparks Show was the largest in its history, filling the Sevier County Fairgrounds to capacity with an impressive array of vehicles from multiple clubs. The show featured cars of all types, including Power Wheels, and the competition for the annual club award was fierce. The Sparks Show went beyond mere numbers of members, emphasizing participation in club games, the ‘Boone Games’ (organized by Michelle Boone), donations, and overall fun competition. This year’s club winner was Banzaii, who excelled in all aspects.
In addition to the club games, the show featured the highly popular low vehicle limbo, which attracted both participants and spectators. This event saw the most HammerD Weekend Wear featured vehicles ever, providing a visual treat for attendees.
Numerous podcasts from the truck scene were onsite, including OLP, The Custom Scene, Lowest Common Denominator, and NADS (Not Another Damn Podcast). DJ MazeRadio kept the atmosphere lively by playing favorite tracks throughout the day.
The show hosted various product and apparel vendors, including Rose Metal Works, Mad House Designs, Drop Em, HammerD, Gooch Pinstriping, Knox Auto Spa, Asphalt Army, and Layin Frame Kandles. Food vendors like Malloys and Eggrollin Hut ensured that attendees were well-fed, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Friday night featured a pre-party at Iron Forged Brewery, where many participants showcased their vehicles as they rolled into town. On Saturday night, the spirit of the old days was revived as many took to the strip to cruise, organized by the great group from Static Nationals.
The Sparks Show 2023 also focused on giving back to the community. This year’s charities included Spreadin’ the Luv, which supports cancer patients, and Pops for Patients, which donates toys to East TN Children’s Hospital. The generosity of the participants and attendees underscored the event’s commitment to making a positive impact.
The 10th annual Sparks Show was a resounding success, bringing together car enthusiasts, clubs, and the community for a weekend of fun, competition, and charity. With its largest turnout yet, the show reinforced its status as a must-attend event for automotive lovers. Here’s to many more years of the Sparks Show!
