Numerous Ways in Which You Can Increase the Longevity of the Jump Box!

November 22, 2024 By Gauge Magazine

Jump BoxRegardless of the battery used, a jump starter tends to decay with time. This happens because the lead acid or lithium battery used in the device can be charged as many times as possible. Moreover, many other factors influence the longevity of the battery. To make the most of it and to ensure that your jump box lasts long, you need to follow the below-mentioned tips:

  • Charging is crucial:Like any other battery-operated device and appliance, you need to charge the jump starter regularly to get the most out of the device. You should charge the device before using it. If you are not using the device, you should charge it every 90 days. Whether it is a lead acid or lithium battery, you should charge it every 90 days. Put it on charge at night and switch it off in the morning. Simple, easy, quick, and very effective. Nothing is worse than not charging the device for long. It can affect its performance. And since you want to enhance the product’s longevity, you must get it charged frequently. There is no alternative to this.
  • Ensure that you reasonably use the device:Your jump starter has a duty cycle. You must crank it for 6 seconds and then give it a rest of 180 seconds. You must let the internal components cool down before you use it again. If you don’t do this, the device will heat up, which can cause the device to malfunction.
  • Storage temperature and charging frequency: When it comes to storage, you must consider the surrounding temperature. For example, if the temperature is too hot, you need to charge the device every 35 to 40 days. In such a situation, the 90-day gap is not applicable. However, If the temperature is too cold, you should charge the device overnight. In the morning, switch it off and carry it in the car.
  • Start and then disconnect:Once you have used the jump box to start the car, you must disconnect it immediately. Remember that vehicle charging output is way higher than the device is usually exposed to. Hence, unless you disconnect the device, it can go kaput or can start to malfunction. So, ensure that once the car has started, you should disconnect the device.
  • Safe behavior also ensures the product’s longevity:A lot depends on how you use the device. You should connect the battery’s positive terminal first and then the negative lead. Don’t do the opposite; it will hurt the product. When you follow the procedure every single time, you ensure that the product’s longevity remains intact. Also, ensure proper connections are made to reduce resistance while jump-starting the vehicle. Check https://www.astroai.com/ to find out more.
  • Overall checks:You need to check the clamps and cables periodically to ensure that they are in good condition. After every use, check the clamps to ensure that they are corrosion-free and wipe them clean if there are any signs of corrosion.

Final words:

Follow these steps regularly so that the product remains in good condition. This will enhance the overall longevity of the device. However, if you experience issues with the device that cannot be resolved, you should get it checked by a professional. If it cannot be fixed, you should replace it with a new one.
