1960 Buick LaSabre
The 1960 Buick LeSabre is a stunning classic car owned by Rob and Shauna Tansey, and it has become a head-turner since its completion. The inspiration behind the build came when Rob found the car in a warehouse in Columbia SC. He wanted to fix the roof where the paint was coming off and create something unique that would catch everyone’s eye. The car took seven months to complete, and the stunning paint job has made it stand out in any crowd.
Rob has been building cars since the age of 15, and he has had several hot rods and muscle cars over the years. The 1960 Buick LeSabre has a stock drivetrain, including the 364 Nailhead engine, but it has been upgraded with an Air Lift 3P/3H air management system, twin 480 Viair compressors, and Air Lift Dominators.
The stunning custom roof and trunk paint job, with seven different candies and four different bases, is a show-stopper. Chad Martin of Chads Custom Dreams worked with Rob to lay down the color, and he and his apprentice also designed the graphics.
The interior of the car is just as impressive as the exterior, with a lowrider/psychedelic-inspired theme that keeps you trippin’. The dashboard features glitter vinyl, mohair, and pink leopard, and the stock gauges and steering wheel are in pristine condition. Paul Aragon Sr. did the wild upholstery work, which includes a pink leopard headliner, glitter vinyl door panels, and pink and purple psychedelic seats.
Rob’s future plans for the Buick include adding air conditioning to keep passengers cool during rides. The Buick is affiliated with Street Stalkers in Columbia SC, and Rob gives special thanks to his wife, Shauna, Chad Martin, and Paul Aragon Sr. for their support and help with the build.
