She named it ‘Purple Haze’ because it’s all about purple and looks different every time you look at it. Vehicle History and Inspiration
Carrie has been building cars for two years and passionate about restoring classic cars since childhood. Her desire to have a ride entirely made for her led her to purchase a GMC 1500 in 1998 by trading her 91 Chevy 4×4. She wanted everyone to know that it’s a female-owned ride, and her inspiration was to build something unique that represents her personality.
Ride Details on ‘Purple Haze’
Carrie spent around $30,000 and one year to restore the GMC 1500 to its current glory. She had the frame dropped, channeled, and added a C-notch, 2-link, bag mounts, custom cross member, custom cross member for air tank, Watts link, and front frame notched for steering arms. She has a 4.3 V6 engine with 4300cc displacement, an on-board compressor, cool air intake, throttle body spacer, and a billet radiator.
Chassis Details
The GMC 1500 has a mostly stock chassis other than the mods, and it is body dropped. The front shocks are Nitto, and the rear shocks are Dominator D2600. The compressor is on board, and the valve info is Smc valves. The airbag info is Dominator D2600, and Carrie’s ride has suicide doors, a custom power sunroof, shaved antenna, shaved door handles, shaved 3rd brake light, caddy tail lights, and a metal roll pan.
Wheel and Paint Details
Carrie’s ride has American Racing Nova wheels with a front size of 20x and a rear size of 20x. The front and rear wheels have Voodoo Violet Prism House of Kolors paint with no graphics except for a smooth front bumper and a stock GMC grille with billet insert.
Interior Details
The interior of the GMC 1500 has a stock dashboard with billet inserts, custom Asian font Speedhut gauges, a retro sound head unit with Bluetooth, and JL audio 8″ sub box and amp mounted under the driver’s side seat. The upholstery is black and purple corset seats and center console with speaker kick pods, upholstered by Carrie’s husband Juggy Craighead.
