Meaning Behind the Name
The first part of the name is "Tacoma" which is what the truck is and the second is "Comatose" which is what happened to the truck shortly after I bought it. One day the truck laid down on me and would not do anything. I could not get it to turn over, it had no power to anything. It was like it was in a "coma". It took several months to get it running again. Shortly after that I decided to pull it completely apart and body drop it and fix any issues that I found along the way. I was leaning in the direction of using something with "coma" in it because of what it is and it being laid out and blacked out but when it laid down on me I knew 'Tacomatose" was the perfect name for the truck.

What was the inspiration?
I had been away from shows and custom scene for several years. My son was starting to get old enough to help and I wanted to get him interested in the custom automotive scene. I wanted to build a truck that the my son, my wife and I could all work on and spend time together working on and we are all proud to go to show with. We went to a small local show and meet up with some friends from the past and the itch to build something else really got going. I was open to any mini truck but I wanted the right one. I wanted a smaller truck because I felt I could manage building it easier than a bigger truck at this point. I looked at several different trucks but they never jumped out at me. I have always loved the lines of the Tacoma and when I found this one I knew it was the one.
How long did it take you to build?
almost 2 years. I bought the truck in July 2016 and started pulling it apart in December 2016 and it made it first show in August 2018
How long have you been building?
20+ years but I walked away for several years when my son came along.

Your future plans?
Right now just enjoy it and enjoy taking it to shows. Maybe change wheels and add some type of graphics.

Body Drop
Stock floor body dropped using "2" x 3" x 1/4" tubing under the cab.
Body Mods
Shaved fuel door, door handles, windshield squirters, shaved antenna, molded in roll pan and welded up the tailgate and tailgate handle. Tubed fire wall and finders in front and back. Splash guards welded and molded onto the front fenders and bed wheel wells. Smoked all exterior lights. I wanted the bed to look as stock as possible and I wanted it to be as functional as possible. I bought a donor bed and cut the floor out of it. I wanted to keep the floor ridges throughout the bed floor. I tried keeping the floor as close to the 4-link and bridge as possible to keep as much room in the bed as I could. The center part behind the axle is raised up a little more because of the fuel cell. I took the factory tacoma fuel door out of the donor bed and molded it into the floor of the bed over the fuel cell. I also added the wheel tubs to make the bed solid. The bed was finished off with black U-Pol Raptor liner. Mods performed by myself, Todd Faulkner, Robert Nelson.
