MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Whether heading to the track for a weekend race or just leaving your race car parked in its enclosed trailer between events, there’s nothing more important than protecting your race car from being stolen. So always make sure you secure your race car hauler.
BOLT® Locks are designed to deliver both convenience and security to trailer owners, while also preventing trailer theft. BOLT Locks feature patented Breakthrough One-Key Lock Technology, which permanently programs all BOLT locks to the vehicle’s ignition key. The BOLT line includes many ways to secure your race car hauler like receiver locks, coupler pin locks, padlocks, cable locks as well as off-vehicle coupler locks and kingpin locking systems, to name a few.
Here’s how the technology works: When drivers insert their ignition key into the lock cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key alone. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. This short video explains how it works:
“BOLT Locks are a ‘must-have’ accessories for anyone with a race trailer because they allow drivers to secure the trailer to the truck as well as lock expensive gear (such as generators) that racers carry to support their race team,” explained BOLT Lock Sales Manager Jason Buckles. “Race car owners can get a better night’s sleep when parking in a hotel parking lot or if they ever have to leave their trailer unattached to the tow vehicle by knowing they are protected with BOLT Locks. And the best part about BOLT Lock technology is you’ll always have the right key – your ignition key – to unlock everything.”
BOLT Receiver Locks, which fit Class I through Class V hitches, are plated with a cast zinc case for superior corrosion resistance. They feature a durable, stainless steel pin and a rugged cover jacket. The 5/8” Receiver Lock is ideal for most trucks and SUVs with a Class III, Class IV and Class V hitch, while the 1/2” Receiver Lock fits Class I and Class II hitches.
A stainless steel Coupler Pin Lock fits couplers from ½” to 3 3/8” and adjusts in 1/8” increments to allow for a snug fit and should be used in association with the receiver lock to keep the trailer from being removed from the tow vehicle. This is a perfect way to secure your race car hauler.
BOLT Padlocks are ideal for use on tool boxes along with securing side and rear enclosed trailer doors. They have a spring-loaded, chrome-plated 5/16” diameter hardened steel shackle inside a crush-resistant body shell and a stainless steel lock shutter to keep out dirt and moisture.
BOLT Cable Locks are 6’ in length and made of ¼” black vinyl coated coiled cable. They’re useful to secure a generator to the trailer tongue or to tie down gear inside the trailer to keep trailer contents from being taken when the trailer is unattended.
When the race trailer is unattached to its tow vehicle, BOLT offers a robust Off-Vehicle Coupler Lock that’s powder coated in bright red to serve as a visual theft deterrent. It works with 1 7/8”, 2” or 2 15/16” couplers. For those that tow a fifth wheel trailer, BOLT has a Kingpin Locking System that is used in conjunction with any 5/8” BOLT Receiver lock.
Keeping your race car and race gear from being stolen is easy with the BOLT line of “one key technology” Locks. And BOLT products are an excellent gift idea for anyone that tows.
