9 Must-Have Accessories for Truck Drivers

December 27, 2023 By Gauge Magazine

accessories Semi-truck drivers are the backbone of America. They spend long hours on the roads away from their families so we can all have the items we need. Without them, store shelves would be bare, and factories would grind to a screeching halt. In this article we will review 9 Must-Have Accessories for Truck Drivers

Exploring Essential Accessories for Truck Drivers

Certain items are essential for truck drivers. Many of them are great big truck parts that help keep their vehicles going. Of course, some must-have accessories have little to do with the trucks themselves. These extra essentials help make trips safer and more comfortable for the drivers we all depend on.

1) Bluetooth Headset

Communication is crucial for commercial drivers. They need to be able to stay in touch with their families, friends, employers, customers, emergency services, and other connections. That being said, hands-free capabilities are a legal requirement on the road. Bluetooth headsets allow drivers to stay connected while adhering to safety standards and legal regulations.

2) Windshield Phone Mount

Truck drivers can’t go wrong with a windshield phone mount. In combination with a Bluetooth headset, these devices allow drivers to take full advantage of their phones while still complying with hands-free regulations.

3) Navigation System

A reliable GPS system that’s designed specifically for truckers is also crucial. It allows drivers to plan truck-friendly routes, circumvent traffic problems, and avoid potential safety hazards. These can be apps downloaded on truckers’ phones, systems that are integrated into their trucks, or standalone devices.

4) Dash Camera

Dash cameras can be invaluable for truckers as well. They provide visual records of accidents to serve as evidence if the need arises. They can protect truck drivers from false claims and even help save their commercial licenses and jobs in many instances.

5) Comfortable Seat Cushion

Long hours on the road can take a major toll on a trucker. Having a supportive seat cushion can help ease the impact to an extent. Specially designed seat cushions can alleviate back, hip, and neck pain while serving as shock absorbers to minimize vibrations and jarring bumps.

6) Power Inverter

Power inverters can likewise be helpful. They convert a truck’s DC power to AC. That allows drivers to charge their electronics and power small appliances, like slow cookers or electric coolers.

7) Electric Cooler

Speaking of electric coolers, those are also essential. They allow drivers to keep fresh food and cold drinks on hand to draw from as needed. Truckers can’t necessarily stop for a drink or snack every time hunger or thirst strikes, so having those items at the ready can make a major difference.

8) Emergency Kit

Emergency kits are vital for truck drivers. These generally include LED flashlights, reflective triangles, fire extinguishers, first-aid supplies, and other tools and resources. Truckers are required by law to keep some of those items in their trucks at all times, but certain other inclusions go beyond the basics to help protect truckers.

9) Truck Caddy

Along with these general must-haves, each truck driver has a list of unique essentials. Keeping up with all those items isn’t an easy feat, though. A truck caddy allows drivers to keep them consolidated and organized. Some caddies happen to fit nicely between the seats or in the passenger seat so those necessities are always close at hand.

Being Equipped With the Essentials

These accessories can help to keep drivers safer and more comfortable on the road. Each one has its own set of benefits. Whether they’re made to make trips more efficient or provide convenience, they can help keep truck drivers going so they can continue to keep America up and running.
