On July 20, 2025, at Legg Lake in Southern California, rotary enthusiasts gathered for this year’s 720 Day Meet Up & Hangout, showing off some of the cleanest builds and most relaxed vibes around.
Set inside the beautiful Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, Legg Lake gave the meet a laid-back, summer hangout feel. Trees lined the water, the sun was shining, and rotary engines echoed through the park as owners parked, popped their hoods, and started talking shop.
It felt more like a big family picnic — just with a lot more horsepower.
720 Day — A Rotary Holiday
For those unfamiliar, “720” represents July 20, a date embraced by Mazda rotary fans everywhere. It’s become an unofficial holiday celebrating the iconic 13B rotary engine and the culture built around it.
And SoCal showed up strong.
Rows of clean Mazda RX-7 builds and well-kept Mazda RX-8 models lined the lot, ranging from nearly stock classics to fully built street machines. Some cars featured period-correct wheels and subtle mods, while others showed off aggressive aero, detailed engine bays, and custom paint that popped in the summer light.
Every car had a story — and the owners were more than happy to tell it.
Just Good Energy
What made the 720 Day Meet Up stand out wasn’t just the cars — it was the atmosphere. No egos. No pressure. Just enthusiasts enjoying the moment.
