What was the inspiration?
Even though I have owned several minis and lowered cars over the years, I have never really had the chance to get my hands dirty and do the work. When I was younger, it was just that my husband and my club just automatically did the work for me. And like many, I didn't have the skill so I would defer to others. When it came to this truck, there was already a personal attachment for me. I not only wanted to prove to myself that I could do some of the work, but to be an example to my daughter who is looking at starting her first build. While I definitely couldn't do this on my own, I wanted to be sure that no one could say someone else had done it all for me.
How long did it take you to build?
We set a pretty extreme deadline for ourselves, 80 days start to finish. Bodywork. paint. interior.

Your future plans?
Assisting with my daughter's rebuild of the first truck her Dad and I had together.
Vehicle history
The truck was originally started in 1992, when it was lowered and painted by Darrin Mitzel. After sitting in storage from 1994-2002 it was purchased by another club member and the body drop began. It then passed thru two other club members, never seeing much drive time before it came to me. We spent the first two years putting as many miles on it as we could, making it to every show that we could. After 22 years, its age was finally starting to show in the body work and paint. When it came time to tear it down to repair damage to the frame, we started on the rest.
