What was the inspiration?

Growing up always loved cars started out with import cars. First full built car was a 1990 Honda Accord with body kit, custom paint, full custom interior, and air ride suspension. Went to many shows with friends and mini trucks seemed more noticed at car shows and most of my friends had mini trucks.

How long did it take you to build?

My friend Justin Wyatt and I rebuilt my Toyota after the first year I owned it to build it my way and it was a 2 year process

How long have you been building?

Since I was 15 I have had a addiction to custom cars and that was 22 years ago

Vehicle history

Friend Tony Venable owned the Toyota before me. He originally bagged it and painted it orange with custom interior. He decided to body drop it and didn’t ever finish it. After 4 years of it sitting in his garage I talked him into selling it to me My friend Justin Wyatt and I finished up what’s was left of body drop and put it back together as soon as I got it to my garage. Drove it for the first year and then took it apart that winter to make it more my way. We redone the air ride suspension. I shaved door handles wipers has door and tail gate and put rag top in it. Done a full custom paint in electron blue and redone all the interior in tweed.

1992 Toyota Pickup

Having a father that loves custom vehicles always helps. Jason McCracken built a couple vehicles in the past including a fully custom Honda Accord built in the style of mini truck. It wasn’t until Jason’s friend Tony decided to sell his Toyota that he was bit by the mini truck bug.

Jason bought the truck already bagged and body dropped by Tony Venable. Tony used 2 inch drop spindles and 2500lb Airlift Dominators upfront. On the rear, Jason and Justin Wyatt changed it to a triangulated 4-link set up for drivability and also used 2600lb Airlift Dominators. They built a custom 2 by 3 back half from the cab to the rear. They also included a “NC” logo that floats from the rear end. To keep the 2-3 gallon stainless steel air tanks full of air, they used 2 450 C compressors all hard lined.

While Justin and Jason were preparing the truck for paint, Tony stopped by to check out the truck and asked why they were shaving the door handles and adding a sliding rag top. Jason said he could have them if he wanted because he was making the truck his. They also shaved the tailgate, antenna, wiper motor, wiper cowl, and cargo light. Just before sending the truck to paint, they added a Showdown Accessories Cowl induction hood. Robert Sorah was tasked with painting the 1992 Toyota Pickup AKA Baby Blue a Matrix electron blue with extra pearl and Sherman Williams clear.

On the inside Gray Tweed with Blue Carbon Fiber inserts cover the seats. Gray tweed covers the door panels with billet window cranks and blue fiberglass armrest. Gray tweed also covers the dash with a Toyota symbol. White face gauges and a BAD Hell Fire steering wheel round out the dash. With the windows down and the ragtop back, Jason added a JVC head unit with Kicker Amps to power the Audiobahn 10” subs and Boston Acoustic mids and highs.

The stock 3.0 V6 engine was basically left untouched except for a K&N Intake and Pacesetter headers. Last but not least, a red top Optima battery powers everything.

The last thing Jason chose to do was to add on the 1992 Toyota Pickup AKA Baby Blue was the 18 x 8 Antera Opus 1 Tri Spoke with Kumho Esta 215/35R18 wheels all the way around.
