Purple Poison custom 1994 Honda Accord built by Sean Patrick

Some custom vehicles are built to follow trends. Others become icons that help define an entire era. Sean Patrick’s 1994 Honda Accord, better known as “Purple Poison,” falls into the second category.

With roots dating back to the mid-1990s mini truck and sport compact scene, Purple Poison has lived several lives throughout its history. Today, thanks to Sean’s dedication and vision, the legendary Accord continues to evolve while paying tribute to the builders and owners who helped make it one of the most recognizable custom Hondas around.

For Sean, the inspiration behind the build was simple.

“I wanted to pay tribute to both eras of the car while still making it my own.”

That respect for the vehicle’s history is evident everywhere you look. Rather than completely reinventing the Accord, Sean carefully blended classic styling cues from the original build with modern upgrades and refinements that allow Purple Poison to remain relevant more than three decades after the project first began.

A Piece of Custom Car History

Purple Poison’s story started back in 1994 and 1995 at Bio Kustumz under the guidance of Joe McClusky and Max Fish. The Accord quickly became a standout vehicle during the height of the custom import and mini truck movement.

Over the years, the car passed through several owners, each making small changes and modifications while preserving much of its original personality. When Sean acquired the Accord, however, the vehicle was far from show-ready.

“The car was in pretty bad shape mechanically and body-wise when I got it,” Sean explained.

Over the next three years, he committed himself to bringing the Honda back to life. The restoration included extensive bodywork, paint refinishing, suspension upgrades, and countless mechanical repairs to make the vehicle dependable once again.

The result is a build that honors its roots while benefiting from modern craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Candy Purple Perfection

The first thing most people notice about Purple Poison is the incredible paint.

The Accord is covered in a stunning candy purple finish created using products from Revolt Paint. The graphics package incorporates multiple colors including pink metallic, amethyst pearl, blue pearl, pearl green, teal pearl, silver metallic, yellow pearl, orange pearl, and white pearl.

The design was brought to life by K Daddy Kustoms in Bakersfield, California, with pinstriping handled by Checkmate Auto Art.

Sean worked closely with K Daddy Kustoms to create a look that reflected both chapters of the car’s history.

“The graphics came out of K Daddy’s imagination combined with my ideas, splitting the design between the two eras of the car’s life.”

The finished product is impossible to ignore. Under sunlight, the layers of pearl and candy paint create incredible depth while highlighting the extensive body modifications throughout the vehicle.

Custom Bodywork from Every Angle

Purple Poison features an extensive list of body modifications that help separate it from ordinary custom imports.

The shaved exterior eliminates unnecessary distractions by removing door handles, side markers, emblems, and other factory trim pieces. The hood has been shaved for a cleaner appearance, while a Trenz billet grille adds a custom touch to the front end.

One of the most unique modifications is the custom tail light treatment. The tail lights were chopped and carefully fitted into a modified trunk design that flows seamlessly with the rest of the bodywork.

Additional exterior features include:

  • Wings West body kit
  • Webasto electric sliding ragtop
  • Full custom trunk treatment
  • Extensive body smoothing
  • Custom fabrication throughout

Much of the original bodywork was completed by Bio Kustumz, helping preserve the vehicle’s historical significance while allowing Sean to build upon its legendary foundation.

Air Ride and Show-Stopping Stance

No custom vehicle from this era would be complete without a killer stance, and Purple Poison delivers.

The Accord rides on a fully customized air suspension setup featuring custom front and rear bag mounts. Slam Specialties SS5 airbags handle duties up front, while Air Lift sleeve bags support the rear suspension.

An Air Lift 3P management system controls ride height, while dual Viair 444 compressors provide reliable air supply.

The setup delivers approximately seven inches of front suspension travel and six inches in the rear, allowing Purple Poison to sit aggressively low when parked while maintaining drivability when cruising.

KYB shocks help keep everything under control, creating a ride quality that matches the car’s impressive appearance.

One-Off Wheels Complete the Look

Finding the perfect wheels for an iconic build can be difficult, but Purple Poison wears a set that fits perfectly.

The Accord rolls on custom Giovanna Barletta wheels built specifically for this vehicle. Measuring 19×8 inches at all four corners and wrapped in 225/35R19 tires, the wheel package provides a modern look while complementing the vehicle’s timeless styling.

Although Sean admits he’s still searching for the ultimate billet wheel setup, the current combination gives the Honda a clean and aggressive appearance that draws attention wherever it goes.

Honda Power with Custom Flair

Under the hood sits Honda’s dependable F22B2 four-cylinder engine.

While the powerplant maintains its legendary reliability, Sean added several upgrades and detail enhancements to elevate the engine compartment.

Performance modifications include:

  • AEM cold air intake
  • Nology plug wires
  • Stainless steel header
  • DC strut tower bar
  • Auto Tech 320-amp alternator

The engine bay also features numerous chrome and polished components, creating a show-quality presentation that matches the exterior of the vehicle.

The combination of polished metal, chrome accents, and candy paint ensures the engine compartment receives just as much attention as the rest of the build.

Custom Interior Built for Cruising

Inside, the 1994 Honda Accord Purple Poison continues the custom theme with a refined interior designed for both comfort and style.

The factory seats have been reupholstered and customized, including a headrest delete on the front seats and custom rear seat bolsters. Black leather extends throughout the cabin and continues onto the custom door panels, creating a cohesive and upscale appearance.

Additional interior highlights include:

  • Billet Specialties FastLane steering wheel
  • Kenwood DDX57S multimedia head unit
  • PowerBass XMA-1205D amplifier
  • PowerBass 6.5-inch component speakers
  • Custom Fi Audio 10-inch subwoofer
  • Custom rear package tray port
  • 30% front window tint
  • 5% ceramic rear tint

The upholstery work was completed by Art Ramirez of Bakersfield, California, whose craftsmanship helped transform the cabin into a show-worthy environment.

Looking Toward the Future

Despite the extensive work already invested in Purple Poison, Sean says the build is far from finished.

Like most true enthusiasts, he already has plans for the next phase of improvements.

Future upgrades include redesigning portions of the trunk, refreshing sections of the interior, locating the perfect billet wheels, and continuing to enjoy the car on the road as much as possible.

“There are always future plans.”

That mindset is part of what makes custom vehicles special. A build is never truly finishedโ€”it simply continues to evolve.

The Support System Behind the Build

Sean is quick to acknowledge the people and companies who helped make Purple Poison what it is today.

Special thanks go out to his wife Donna, Air Lift Performance, Slam Specialties, Revolt Paint, K Daddy Kustoms, Mike Alexander, Tammy Miller, Max Fish, Checkmate Auto Art, Corey Raybon, Rohde Fab, BootLeg Customs, Burbs Metal Polishing, and his club, Relaxed Atmosphere.

Their support, expertise, and friendship helped transform a worn-down custom classic into one of the most impressive Honda Accords still cruising today.

After more than 30 years of history, multiple owners, and countless modifications, the 1994 Honda Accord Purple Poison remains a rolling tribute to custom car culture. It honors the past, embraces the present, and proves that legendary builds never truly fade awayโ€”they simply find the right caretaker to carry the story forward.
