5 Part-Time Jobs You Could Do With Your Car

November 13, 2023 By Gauge Magazine

part-timeAre you looking for a side job that could earn you a few bucks? Do you have a car and like to drive for fun? Thankfully, if you have a car and you’re looking for a part-time job you could do during your downtime, there are a lot of side jobs out there to consider.

Most of them are feasible, which is convenient if you just want to drive around the city enjoying the cityscapes while earning a few dollars. With that said, here are some part-time jobs you can do if you have a car.

Taxi Driver

Of course, when it comes to driving jobs, one of the first things that probably went through your mind is being a taxi driver. However, you must be asking, “Isn’t being a taxi driver a full-time job?” It sure is if you want the job to be a full-time one. However, most people don’t know you can make it a part-time job.

You can talk to the company about it, and they will give you a schedule based on your preference. Also, they can lend you one if you don’t have a car. As a taxi driver, you can enjoy riding your car during downtime from your primary job. It’s more common than you think, but it’s not that known, perhaps because of the popularity of Lyft and Uber.

Car Advertisement

Here’s a type of work that doesn’t require you to do anything when it comes to work except driving, of course. If you have been downtown, you must have noticed a few cars with advertisements plastered on the car’s surface or signage above the car’s roof.

This is called a car advertisement. This job requires you to put some sort of advertisement on your car, like company names such as CreditNinja or even the faces of the company’s CEO, and drive around the city for the people to see them.

This is usually used by many companies nowadays as it is a legitimate way of advertising. It’s like a commercial except for cars. You will be rated hourly and, sometimes, the distance your car traveled while putting up the advertisement. The best thing about this is that you can pair with it while offering Uber or Lyft services. It’s hitting two birds with one stone.

Lyft or Uber Driver

Lyft and Uber are perhaps the most popular ways of earning money on the side while using your car. This is especially true if you don’t want to work for a taxi company that requires you to follow a schedule.

With Lyft and Uber, you can work your hours. This means you can work whenever you feel like it. This way, if you want to enjoy something else in your downtime, you can do so, or if you have nothing better to do, you can drive people to their destinations instead.

In most cases, the larger the city you are in, the more money you can earn since the travel times are usually longer depending on your passenger.

Carpooling Services

If you want to do a more on-call type of thing, you might like carpooling. Carpooling is a service that people take when they want to go somewhere. That said, what’s the difference between carpooling and Uber?

Simply put, carpooling is a more personal service. People can go to job postings and look for carpooling services online.  Usually, if people like it, they can hire you multiple times for car trips, making you an on-call driver. The only thing here is that you charge your rates.

It’s usually recommended that your rates be fuel plus your actual carpooling rates. This way, you won’t have a loss from refueling your car at the end of the day.

Delivery Service

Have you noticed that sometimes, when you order food online, the delivery driver isn’t wearing a uniform from the store you bought your food from? This is because a third-party delivery service is probably taking charge of the delivery. Third-party delivery services like Grubhub or Door Dash are companies that let people deliver food during their spare time.

Usually, people can use their cars or motorcycles to drive around the city and deliver food while being paid by the third-party delivery service. Nowadays, even bicycles are allowed for food delivery services as people pay more attention to their health.

It’s worth bearing in mind, however, that if you’re using your car or motorcycle, you need to tell your insurance provider about it. This is because it adds risk to your car, which can increase your monthly premiums. That wouldn’t be too much of a problem, though, as the pay you can earn from these delivery services isn’t something to scoff at. Some people are even doing it full-time because of the pay.

Final Words

Having your own vehicle can open many job opportunities you can take advantage of during your free time. This is especially convenient if you like driving for fun. That said, instead of driving without a thought, why not drive and earn money?
