Ride Details

Original and Build Costs

Paul acquired his Galaxie for a cool $25,000, a reasonable price for such a classic ride. But it was just the beginning. Over the course of a year, Paul invested an additional $45,000 into turning the Galaxie into the show-stopping vehicle it is today.

1964 Ford Galaxie 500 Engine Details

At the heart of the Milky Way is a Ford Coyote Crate Motor from 2020, an engineering marvel that elevates this classic ride to modern performance standards. The engine boasts eight cylinders with a displacement of 305 cubic inches, ensuring it delivers the power and performance enthusiasts crave.

Engine Modifications:

  • Race Cam: Enhances engine performance and efficiency.
  • Add-Ons: The Galaxie is equipped with a Cobra Jet Intake and Throttle Body, along with a Ford Performance Cold Air Intake. These components increase airflow, boost horsepower, and improve throttle response.

Driveline Details

A Tremec HD 5-speed wide-ratio transfer case (M-7003-R58W) allows seamless power transfer, while the 9-inch Ford axle with 3.50 gears provides excellent torque distribution. This combination ensures the Galaxie delivers an exhilarating ride, whether cruising down the highway or tackling twisty back roads.

Gears: The Tremec setup provides five gears, offering versatility and control for all driving conditions.

Chassis Details

The chassis of Milky Way has undergone significant enhancements to match its upgraded powertrain.

  • Drop Inches: 2-inch drop spindles give the Galaxie a lowered stance, enhancing both aesthetics and handling.
  • Shocks and Springs: The car is equipped with Ridetech HQ Series Shockwaves for both the front and rear, providing a smooth, responsive ride.
  • Four-Link Setup: A Ridetech 4-link rear suspension system further refines handling and stability.
  • Airbag System: The Ridetech HQ Series Shockwaves double as an airbag system, offering adjustable ride height and comfort.

Wheels and Tires

Milky Way rolls on a set of HRBB Perfected Wheels, measuring 20 inches in diameter. These wheels are not just for show; they significantly enhance the Galaxies’ performance and handling capabilities.

  • Front Tires: 20×8 with 245/35/20 sizing, ensuring excellent grip and steering response.
  • Rear Tires: 20×10 with 255/35/20 sizing, providing stability and traction during acceleration.

Paint and Exterior

The Galaxie 500 shines in a crisp white Ford paint, highlighting its classic lines and timeless design. The flawless finish is a testament to the meticulous craftsmanship that went into its restoration.

Interior Details

Inside, Milky Way features a steering wheel from Hot Rod By Boyd, combining vintage style with modern functionality. The cabin is further enhanced by a JL Audio 1000-watt amplifier, delivering premium sound quality to match the Galaxies’ impressive performance.
