For our May 2025 issue, we proudly spotlight Josh Jewell and his incredible 1952 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe — a true modern classic that fuses traditional craftsmanship with contemporary performance upgrades. Built with attention to detail and an undeniable love for the craft, Josh’s ride is the definition of what happens when passion meets precision.
The Build: A Labor of Love
When Josh Jewell first picked up the ’52 Styleline Deluxe, it cost less than buying a brand-new car. Now? Let’s just say the build cost is “more than I want to say,” according to Josh — but every penny is reflected in this show-stopping masterpiece.
Powered by an expertly crafted Oakley Performance 355 small-block V8 engine, the car boasts:
-
Balanced and blueprinted internals with polished aluminum casting heads
-
Eagle crankshaft for extra strength and reliability
-
Comp Cams camshaft for performance precision
-
Holley 650 double pumper carburetor paired with a Holley Sniper EFI self-injecting fuel system
-
Sanderson ceramic-coated headers delivering that throaty rumble
To complete the powerhouse setup, plenty of polished aluminum components add both performance and shine.
Chassis and Suspension
Josh didn’t stop at the engine bay. His hand-built custom chassis accommodates an ultra-low stance designed to hug the pavement, while still maintaining drivability.
The air ride setup includes:
-
Dual 444 Viair compressors feeding the air tanks
-
SMC valves for quick, responsive adjustment
-
AVS switch box with gauges neatly installed in the center console for full control over ride height
Both the chassis and underbody are finished with a base coat/clear coat paint, matching the beautiful Inferno Red of the lower body.
Exterior: Classic Looks, Custom Touches
The body of the ’52 has been artfully customized:
-
Dropped front fenders for a lower profile and aggressive look
-
Custom-built rear fenders perfectly blended to match the body’s flowing lines
-
A striking DBC Inferno Red body with a Cool Vanilla White roof, giving the car a timeless two-tone finish that pops under show lights or city streets alike.
Subtle yet bold, the custom bodywork complements the old-school Chevrolet styling while giving it a modernized, sleeker look.
Future Plans
While Josh has poured his heart into this Styleline Deluxe, the project is never truly “finished” for true builders like him. Future tweaks and upgrades will continue — because when you’re passionate about building, there’s always a next phase.
Special Thanks
Although the article doesn’t list specific shops or club affiliations, Josh’s build speaks volumes about the friends, family, and builders behind the scenes that help keep these dream projects alive.
