Ride Details

What was the inspiration?
I have always wanted a wagon. My husband, Chad Smith had a vision and said let me handle the exterior paint, and you can do the interior. We partnered up and this is what we came up with. Most people say if you can build a house together your marriage will last. I say if you can build a bitchin' ride, your marriage will last! I wanted a ride that was all mine! Took his skills mixed with both our visions and and it became a reality. I wanted something not to feminine but enough to know it's owned and drivn by a female.
How long did it take you to build?
This wagon took about 6 months but then again I feel like that is not accurate because are we really ever done with a build.? I find myself adding things and coming up with ideas all the time to better her look.
How long have you been building?
My husband has been building for about 25 years and I just started helping more in the shop on projects about the last 5 years.

“Lady Lo”

1964 Chevy Impala owned by Sara Honeycutt

With its classic lines and vintage charm, the 1964 Chevy Impala Wagon owned by Sara Honeycutt is a real beauty. Known as Lady Lo, this wagon is the result of a collaboration between Sara and her husband, Chad Smith. While Chad handled the exterior paint, Sara took charge of the interior. The end result is a stunning wagon that combines the best of both worlds.

Sara had always wanted a wagon, and Chad had a vision. Together, they spent six months building Lady Lo. But as Sara points out, a build is never really done. She is always looking for ways to improve and enhance her ride.

Under the hood, Lady Lo 1964 Chevy Impala Wagon is powered by a Chevrolet LS Truck 2003 engine with 8 cylinders and a displacement of 5.3. The LS 3 intake is a nice touch. The wagon has been lowered and features CCE Hydraulics, 2 pumps, 10 switches, 8″ cylinders front, 10″ rear, and 4 batteries. The wheels are 695 Chromie Riddlers, with 20×8″ in the front and 20×10″ in the rear. The front tires are 245/3520, while the rear tires are 275/3520.

The Teal Patina paint is one of the standout features of Lady Lo. It has a patina and clear coat finish, and there is pin striping on the front of the hood, back of the tailgate, and on the dash. The roof has been modified with a sliding ragtop, which was purchased from Legacy Ragtops. The ragtop is 44″ wide and 80″ long, giving the wagon the feel of a convertible.

Inside, Lady Lo is just as stunning as the exterior. The upholstery has been designed by Sara herself, with Lane Lowder bringing her vision to life. Sara has a fascination with flamingos, and a small touch of this has been added to the upholstered console. There is also a Vintage Air kit, cruise control, wilwood brakes, and more.

Sara is the first lady for LowIncome Car Club, and she plans to keep making Lady Lo even more beautiful and unique each year. She loves the hand-engraved artwork by Krazy Kutting out of Arizona and plans to keep ordering extra pieces to keep her wagon looking one-of-a-kind.

Lady Lo is a testament to the power of collaboration and vision. With her classic lines, vintage charm, and unique touches, she is a ride that any car enthusiast would be proud to own.
