The April 2026 issue features Papa Smurf, a 2018 Ford Mustang GT that blends bold style, precision mods, and a personal touch from its owner. Nicknamed for its striking lightning blue paint and a playful nod to fatherhood, this Mustang transforms a stock performance car into a sleek, head-turning ride.
Originally purchased for $35,000, Papa Smurf has been fully customized over six months to achieve a standout look and feel. The inspiration behind the build came from SEMA-style shows and a desire to beat boredom, turning an everyday Mustang into a show-ready vehicle. From stock to fully modified, every detail reflects careful thought and a hands-on approach.
Under the hood, the 5.0 Coyote V8 remains largely stock for now, featuring a 302ci displacement and tuned for smooth, reliable performance. The drivetrain also stays close to factory specs, including the 373 Ford gears, stock clutch, torque converter, and axle. While the mechanical setup is understated, the focus on exterior and chassis mods makes this Mustang unique on the streets and at events.
Papa Smurfโs chassis is equipped with a full Airlift 3P air ride system, allowing for adjustable stance and a commanding presence. The suspension setup gives the car a perfect balance between comfort and show-ready slammed looks. Complementing the ride are 20-inch aluminum luxury wheels, wrapped in 255/45 front and 305/35 rear tires, enhancing both style and performance.
The exterior retains the iconic Mustang silhouette while adding custom touches like Cobra R hood, RTR grille, side scoops, and racing stripes painted by the owner. The bold lightning blue finish ensures that Papa Smurf always stands out, whether rolling down the highway or parked at a show.
Inside, the cabin keeps a mostly stock setup but integrates high-end audio upgrades, including a Linkswell head unit and Sundown Audio amps and speakers, paired with a rear seat delete for a cleaner look. The digital cluster, stock steering wheel, and console maintain a modern yet functional cockpit, while subtle customizations reflect attention to detail.
Papa Smurf is more than just a Mustang GTโitโs a reflection of passion, creativity, and hands-on craftsmanship. With plans for future upgrades like supercharging, new wheels, and paint enhancements, this build is just getting started and promises to turn even more heads in the months to come.
