Pomona, California, once again became the center of the hot rod universe as the Grand National Roadster Show (GNRS) rolled into the Fairplex in early 2025. This year was extra special—it marked the 75th anniversary of the world’s longest-running indoor car show, and the celebration was as big as the milestone itself.
Every GNRS builds to one moment: the announcement of America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR). In 2025, that honor went to Ross and Beth Myers’ 1936 Ford fenderless roadster, a jaw-dropping machine brought to life by Rad Rides by Troy and led by builder Adam Banks. The car had everything—perfect stance, flawless fabrication, and that “just right” feel that screamed craftsmanship.
Not to be outdone, the Al Slonaker Memorial Award, which celebrates non-roadster customs, went home with Bill and Angela Barbato for their immaculate 1933 Pontiac sedan. It was one of those builds that had everyone stopping mid-stride to take a second look.
Show Highlights That Had Everyone Talking

Eleven AMBR contenders lined up this year, including Model As, T-buckets, and a handful of 1932 and 1936 Fords. Seeing them all under one roof was like stepping into a dream garage.

Believe it or not, three bright orange ’32 Ford highboys went head-to-head for AMBR—a rare sight and one of the coolest coincidences of the weekend.

Outside, the Grand Daddy Drive-In filled the Fairplex with over 1,000 classics, customs, and hot rods, giving fans the chance to see cars in motion and soak up that old-school cruising vibe.

The famous pinstriping auction was back and raised tens of thousands for charity, proving once again that hot rodders love to give back as much as they love to build.
A Birthday Tribute to a Legend
The 2025 show also tipped its hat to the late, great George Barris, celebrating what would’ve been his 100th birthday. Fans were treated to some of his most iconic builds, including the Munster Koach and Dragula. Seeing those cars up close reminded everyone why Barris earned the title “King of the Kustomizers.”
The Community Came Alive
Walking through the halls, you couldn’t help but feel the buzz. Builders swapped stories, owners proudly stood by their cars, and enthusiasts of all ages shared in the history and the excitement. From high-dollar builds competing for trophies to grassroots customs outside at the drive-in, the 2025 Grand National Roadster Show was all about community.
