OverLord
(1967 Chevy Chevelle)
Meaning Behind the Name
I had just retired from serving 31 years on Active Duty in the United States Army. “Overlord” was the military code name for the D Day invasion of Normandy. My late father was part of the US Invasion Force that landed on Utah Beach, in Normandy, France on June 1944.

What was the inspiration?
My father was my inspiration for this build. He worked hard his entire life on a farm in upstate NY and fixed any and everything with a motor by himself. He taught me my way around a garage. He was drafted into the Army and was part of the D Day invasion force landing in Normandy France in June of 1944. I joined the Army myself at 18 years old and never looked back. I served for 31 years on Active Duty and my wife also served for 31 years in the Army!! My dad died just two years ago and enjoyed my passion for American Muscle Cars.
How long did it take you to build?
The Custom Shop helped me design and Build my Dream Car. We talked about all of the things I was looking for and John the owner of The Custom Shop helped me with Ideas he had and I had then did a Rendering of the ideas and he Nailed it. it was a Vision of a Car I had dreamed of for years. Plus with a lot of Crazy ideas and upgrades John came up with.
How long have you been building?
John Wargo, the builder of “The Overlord,” has been owner and builder of his own shop since 1988. He’s taken 58 cars to SEMA and continues to produce amazing builds of all generations and types of cars. John does all the work himself with his team; motor, interior, and paint right in his own shop located in Flanagan, Illinois.
